The paper describes 18 yr of experience gained with the diagnosis and treatment of 1100 newborns with craniocerebral injuries and the late-term results elucidated for 2-15 yr. In addition to the neurological diagnosis, use was made of electrophysiological, X-ray and puncture research methods. Subarachnoidal hemorrhages (73%), subdural (20%), epidural (4%), intraventricular (2%) and intracerebral (1%) hematomas were diagnosed. Puncture is suggested as the main treatment method, namely subdural punctures across the fontanel for removal of subdural hematomas, transcutaneous punctures for removal of epidural, and punctures across the suture for removal of intraventricular hematomas. The treatment under discussion permitted cutting down the lethality from 15 to 8%, severe complications from 51 to 17%.
