Somatosensory evoked potentials after median nerve stimulation were recorded in 15 rheumatic patients with atlanto-axial subluxation (AASL). All patients had normal N20-P9 interpeak latencies. Even subclinal medullary compression affecting the sensory pathway from the brachial plexus (P9) and the cortex (N20) may be excluded in patients with AASL.
