A study of the possible role of cholecystokinin (CCK) as an appetite and body weight regulator centered on the measurement of fasting and postprandial plasma CCK in 6 obese patients before and after jejunoileal bypass surgery and in 6 non-obese controls. Postprandial plasma CCK increase was greater for the obese patients and for the control subjects, but was uneffected by the surgery, suggesting that CCK is not involved in digestive tract satiety signals in obese subjects.
