Among the main risk factors that contribute to the development of status asthmaticus in patients with bronchial asthma are inadequate treatment of exacerbations, untimely application for medical aid, ungrounded prescription of glucocorticoids, insufficient coverage of the patients by regular medical check-ups and lack of medical education among them. The main measures to prevent status asthmaticus include adequate therapy of exacerbations, organization of constant specialized observation of patients and efficient medical education.
