Non-gonococcal urethritis in men & its response to therapy

In a prospective study, 1500 men with urethritis were investigated in New Delhi [India], for the 1st time, to ascertain the prevalence, demography and etiology of non-gonococcal urethritis. The prevalence of this infection was 30.26%. Most of the patients were young, educated and unmarried. The most common etiological agent was Chlamydia trachomatis followed by Trichomonas vaginalis. All the patients suffering from trichomonal urethritis and 86.57% of the patients suffering from chlamydial urethritis responded to appropriate therapy.
