Effect of ascorbic acid in the treatment of tetanus

Death is recorded for none of 31 tetanus patients aged 1-12 years and 37% of 27 patients aged 13-30 years who were given daily intravenous administration of 1000 mg ascorbic acid in addition to conventional antitetanus therapy (antitetanus serum, sedatives and antibiotics) compared with 74% and 68% of 31 and 28 control patients in these age-groups treated with conventional therapy alone.Carolyn A.
