A single i.p. injection of D-(+) galactosamine (330 mg/kg) caused profound alterations in total lipid and low density lipoprotein(LDL)-apoprotein metabolism in adult rats. There was 35% reduction in serum total lipids and 54% elevation in liver total lipids after 25 h. These perturbations could be partly explained on the basis of 42% inhibition of synthesis of LDL-apoproteins in the liver.
