Sudden death from acute coronary insufficiency in women under 50-years-old

The female to male ratio among patients under 50 who died suddenly of acute coronary failure associated with coronary heart disease was 1:8. Coronary atherosclerosis in females was less marked than in age-matched males. The involvement of the intramural arteries in the pathological process in women was twice as common. Almost half of the women who died suddenly of acute coronary of the women who died suddenly of acute coronary failure were individuals engaged in strenuous manual work. Alcohol intake was a factor contributing to and directly preceding the sudden death.
