Global viticultural production is expected to decline slightly in 1995/96, although this will be marked by an increase in the production of quality wine. Consumption is also expected to decline slightly. The proportion of wine produced being used in brandy production has increased with demand for the spirit. Italy has benefited from the producing reducing droughts in Spain. Spanish exports have also fallen with prices rising faster than Italian prices.
