To evaluate the effects of eseroline, a new morphinomimetic compound, on hypophyseal-adrenal axis activity, the following parameters were investigated in the rat: adrenal ascorbic acid (AA) and cholesterol (Col) levels and corticosterone plasma (CS) levels. Two doses, twice and 6 times the therapeutic dose, were used. The smallest dose failed to induce any changes of adrenal activity, whereas the highest dose caused changes of the adrenal AA and Col levels and CS plasma levels that were not always significant.
