Day case inguinal hernia repair under local anaesthetic

Local anesthetic day case inguinal hernia repair was performed on 135 patients under the care of 1 surgeon in a 9 mo. period. Results of a questionnaire answered by 129 patients (95.6%) and 31 of their general practitioners [GP] (85%) were analyzed. The complication rate is very low and both patient and GP acceptability is high.
