Four cases of .alpha. chain disease diagnosed in 1 yr are being reported. A multidisciplinary approach bringing out the fine details of the disease is emphasized, so that the complete spectrum can be seen and understood. The awareness of the entity and the use of immunologic, endoscopic and histological techniques are essential to make early and definite diagnosis. Surgical resection, wherever feasible and combination chemotherapy with or without radiotherapy constitute optimal management.
