Serum zinc, copper and protein levels in children of destitute homes

Of 45 children from 4 destitute homes in Udaipur district of India 13 were normal and 32 had various grades of malnutrition. In the normal children concentrations of zinc, copper and total proteins in serum were, respectively, 125.6, 111.3 mu g/100 ml and 6.09 g/100 ml. These values were progressively decreased with the severity of malnutrition.
