Obsidan and nonachlazine were administered to dogs with acute experimental myocardial infarction. .beta.-Adrenoblock and .beta.-adrenostimulation contributed to the survival of the ischemic myocardium and to the manifestation of the tendency to intensify metabolic processes during reparation, but due to different metabolic shifts. Effects not typical of these drugs were observed in 2 cases: during the acute period of experimental infarction, nonachlazine inhibited the activity of certain enzymes, especially glycogen phosphorylase; and obsidan activated it after 3 wk long use.
