Is there toxoplasmosis in Mongolia?

In Ulan-Bator, Mongolia, 220 meat processing plant workers, 10 patients with eye diseases and 18 parturiants were tested for toxoplasmosis by CFT, FAT and IT. The results were negative in all but one case in which the IT gave a weak positive reaction whereas CFT and FAT were negative. This agrees with the single previously published paper on toxoplasmosis in Mongolia which gave a prevalence rate of 0.09%. The apparent absence of this parasite in Mongolia is discussed.
