Prophylactic administration of lidocaine to patients with acute myocardial infarction before hospitalization reliably decreased the frequency of emergence of primary ventricular fibrillation. Use of the method of administration of lidocaine (i.v. and i.m.) ensures an antifibrillatory effect without marked side effects, and may be recommended for wide use under conditions of first aid and in in-patient clinics.
