Counselees (108) were investigated for a neurological disorder, psychic disease or severe hearing loss. Before counseling, 36% had positive reproduction plans, 53.7% negative ones and 10% were undecided. The concordance rate between the precounseling reproduction plans and the risk magnitude established during the investigation was 74.2% for the counselees having clear-cut projects (the undecided ones having been excluded). Of the total number of counselees, 37.8% displayed psychic disturbances secondary to the proband's disease and to the possibly additional case in the family (neurotic depression, exhaustion depression, anxiety neurosis). After directive counseling, 18% expressed their intention to change their precounseling plans: in most of these cases, the decision was concordant with the magnitude of the risk. One of the sources of dissatisfaction with the advice was that the counselees received a probabilistic and not a positive answer.
