The diagnosis and therapy of odontogenic soft-tissue infections

Odontogenic soft tissue infections are the most frequent diseases in the orofacial region, but a correct diagnosis is established in only 31% of the cases. For this reason a brief outline of the etiology and clinical picture of the most important soft tissue inflammations is given, the respective indicative signs being stressed. Therapy is dealt with above all from the viewpoint of ambulatory treatment with special regard to tooth extraction in the area of inflammation and to the use of antibiotics.
