T cell allotypic determinants encoded by genes linked to the immunoglobulin heavy chain locus. I. Establishment of monoclonal antibodies against allotypic determinants

In the mouse, genetic analysis of antigenic determinants detected by monoclonal antibodies for T-cell allotypic determinants revealed that these antibodies react with the gene products of the telomeric portion of the chromosome carrying the Igh V-region gene cluster. In vivo, these monoclonal antibodies modified anti-sheep-erythrocyte antibody production only in mice of the Igh-1b allotype. Using recombinant strains, the gene coding for the T-cell-specific determinants was mapped to a locus within the V-region and centromeric to prealbumin, located in a segment, named IgT-C, which includes all the Ig genes and a histocompatibility gene H-Ig.
