A study on the various reasons for the failure of category (CAT) II directly observed therapy short course (DOTS) treatment of Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme was conducted from June 2004 to December 2005. Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis who failed DOTS CAT II treatment at various centers in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand, India, were included.
