The use of pulsating electromagnetic fields to stimulate bone growth offers exciting possibilities in the treatment of delayed union and nonunion of fractures as well as congenital pseudarthrosis. Both noninvasive and invasive systems are clinically available for such stimulation. The present report deals with experience in the use of a noninvasive method of stimulating bone growth, which reduces the risk of infection and can be used even when infection is present. Weight bearing must be avoided, and the coils must be applied for from 10-12 h/day.
