This report focuses on the activities of the Countdown to attain Millenium Development Goals (MDG) 4 (reduce child mortality) and 5 (improve maternal health) and parts of MDGs 1 (eradicate extreme poverty and hunger), 6 (combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases) and 7 (ensure environmental sustainability). The 4 principles that guide these activities are also enumerated. The profiles of each of the 68 Countdown priority countries are also included in this report.
