China: the intersections between poverty, health inequity, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS

Based on a research conducted in rural China, this paper looks at the impact of inequities and underinvestment on health problems such as reproductive health, family planning, and critical disease threats such as HIV/AIDS. It is suggested that both a public health system that provides basic care as well as outreach and health education to poor women are required to change risk behaviours and adopt health promotion actions.
