Ultrasound diagnosis of cholecystolithiasis

Experiences with ultrasound diagnosis of cholecystolithiasis in 107 patients were presented. The bidimensional ultrasound examination of the gall bladder was done using the ATL Mark III device. The diagnostic certainty of the ultrasound examination method was compared with the conventional roentgenological examination method. The ultrasound examination method correctly identified 91.7% of the patients with normal gall bladders and 91.6% of the patients with cholecystolithiasis. The use of ultrasound examination for elucidating the causes of cholecystopathy is advocated.
