A foreign body remaining for a long period in the bronchus in a child aged 1 year

A case of recurrent bronchitis caused by a foreign body lodged in the bronchus in a 1-yr-old baby is described. Presence of a foreign body was suspected when radiograms of the chest demonstrated emphysema of the right lung. Bronchoscopy demonstrated a sunflower seed shell producing a valve-like obstruction of the bronchus.
