The series of 112 human cadavers (50 women, 62 men) served for the study of the situation and morphology of the fossa ovalis. Attention was paid to its dimensions, limbus and shape. The localization was determined by measuring its distance from the venous orifice of the right atrium. Sex dimorphism was taken into consideration in the statistical evaluation and the numerical data correlated with selected heart dimensions.
