Various serological tests for hydatid were performed on 497 persons (6 to 81 years of age) in an area of the GFR endemic for E. multilocularis. 3 subjects with positive titres had hydatid cyst of the liver; 31 further cases had positive antibody titres, but in only one patient was a hydatid cyst found in the liver by computer tomography. Tests on 250 sera from people in a non-endemic area revealed a positive IHAT titre of 1:35 in 5; IFAT and LA were always negative.
