After taking oral contraceptives, enormous interindividual differences in the plasma concentration of ethinyl estradiol and the gestagen components are found. With reference to the present efforts to reduce the hormone content of the pill, 3 factors which influence the bioavailability of these substances are of great importance. Clinical observations suggest that tuberculostatics, antiepileptics, and antibiotics are particularly to be taken into consideration here. (author's)
