An analysis of 5-hydroxyIAA levels in CSF carried out in depressive illness before and after treatment. After therapy and recovery the depressives showed an elevation of CSF 5-hydroxyIAA compared to baseline levels. Urinary kyneurenine excretion pattern in depressives did not show any variations before or after therapy.
