Gastroplication, usually performed at the end of proximal gastric vagotomy to peritonealize the denervated area of the gastric and esophageal wall, is a frequent cause of gastric deformation and ensuing misjudgment in the interpretation of roentgenographic and endoscopic studies. A method of gastric peritonealization is proposed, by means of a flap of greater omentum turned behind the stomach and fixed by interrupted sutures to the lesser curvature of the stomach to cover the denervated area.
