In vitro testing of tumor cells of ovarian carcinoma can provide important information for planning individualized chemotherapy. The biological individuality of malignant tumors calls for in vitro testing methods to obtain information for clinical purposes on proliferation of the tumor. Additional biological characterization may be accomplished using this method or by assessing the 3H-thymidine incorporation rate in short-term incubation or by autoradiographic examination to determine the marker index of the tumor cells.
