Attitude to death and terminal care in Norway

Results are reported, of a national survey of people's attitudes to death, dying and terminal care in Norway. Of the 1100 asked to participate in the study, 821 responded. The questionnaire contained 26 questions which investigated the general public's attitudes to their own death, to children's contact with death, to the doctor-dying patient relationship, to various forms of euthanasia and to the involvement of the Church in terminal care. Replies were correlated to the age and sex of the individuals, and attitudes towards terminal care were correlated to personal attitudes towards death and religious conviction.
