Indirect measurement of blood pressure in resting and exercising subjects by analysis of Korotkov sound pattern

During bicycle ergometry the Korotkov-sounds were picked up by a modern contact microphone and graphically drawn up. Visual evaluation proved characteristic alterations of the curve in the transitions, marked by auscultation, from presystolic to systolic sounds (occurrence of a steep slope of positive ascent) and from diastolic to postdiastolic sounds (vanishing of the negative peak before it). Blood pressure at work was evaluable with certainty by this new semiautomatic process.
