Depression vs. pseudodepression in dementia

While pseudodementia, i.e., depression masquerading as dementia, is well recognized, the reverse is not the case. A case of pseudodepression, i.e., dementia masquerading as depression, is presented and the diagnostic problems, management pitfalls and central role of neuropsychological testing in the treatment of this challenging clinical entity are described.
