The dynamics of human pathology was studied on the autopsy material of the Department of Pathology of Cluj-Napoca over a period of 110 yr, between 1870 and 1979. The study revealed indices related to the major pathological processes, sex and conditions of the environment; the incidence of inflammatory diseases, especially tuberculosis decreased, while that of the complications of atherosclerosis, cancer and liver cirrhosis increased.
