Arthrography of shoulder joints in patients with humeroscapular periarthritis

Arthrography of 48 shoulder joints is described in 28 patients with humeroscapular periarthritis. A study was made of 36 affected joints and 12 joints without the clinical signs of the pathological process. Arthrography was made of 10 shoulder joints in 5 subjects who died of different causes in the absence of any pathology in the area of the shoulder joints. Different affections of the joint capsule were the most frequent changes seen in humeroscapular periarthritis. Calcifications of the soft tissues, ruptures of the rotating shoulder cuff and pathology of the subacromial bursa were encountered less frequently. In some of the cases, the minimal changes could also be found in the clinically normal joint. Arthrography of the shoulder joints is considered as an additional valuable diagnostic method that helps to determine precisely the clinico-anatomic variety of the disease.
