Cases are known in which acute pneumonias develop into a chronic course. This can be explained by irrational chemotherapy with the excessive use of old and newer antibiotics and sulfanilamides to which the causative agents of penumonia are either resistant or poorly sensitive. The application of antimicrobial drugs alone, without resorting to other drugs and therapeutic methods, is also inexpedient. The paper is supplemented with a table which makes it possible to prescribe the most efficacious drugs of this group, often even without determining the causative agents' sensitivity to them.
