Klebocin typing--a national level survey

Klebocin typing of Klebsiella pneumoniae was done on 1207 human and 141 animal isolates from different centers, using 6 producer strains. The typability of clinical, human and animal carrier isolates was 73.3, 56.3 and 78.8%, respectively. A total of 38 types were observed, 19 of which were extremely rare. Common types seen were 313, 314, 324 and 113. The incidence of type 113 was comparatively higher in animals (17.0%) than in humans (6.3%).
