Intraoperative diagnosis of bronchoesophageal and malignant gastrocolic fistulae: a case report

The unusual coexistence of bronchoesophageal and gastrocolic fistulas in a 74-yr-old man is reported. While the etiology of the former fistulization was not confirmed histologically, the case is important because of its presentation and because a diagnosis was made based upon intraoperative events during the administration of anesthesia and assisted ventilation. A discussion of clinical diagnosis and a brief review of the possible etiologies are given.
