Factors of the fibrinolysis of the vascular wall in patients with different severity of atherosclerosis and of different age

A study was made of the activity of fibrinolysis tissue factors in microscopically unchanged areas of the aorta and inferior vena cava in young adults and subjects > 60 yr old with varying severity of atherosclerosis. The autopsy material was obtained from 70 subjects who died suddenly of different causes. Apparently, in late ontogenesis the increase in fibrinolytic activity of vascular wall factors is primarily determined by atherosclerosis and depends quantitatively on its severity. Age-associated reconstruction of the vascular wall has no clear effect on the activity of its fibrinolytic factors.
