Postpartum acute renal failure with microangiopathic hemolytic anemia

A 30-yr-old woman developed acute renal failure after an uneventful pregnancy and delivery. The laboratory and histological findings confirmed the diagnosis of postpartum renal failure with microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, a rare syndrome, only 30 cases of which have been reported. During hospitalization there were 3 episodes of unexplained urticaria. After follow-up of 1 yr she is still dependent on hemodialysis and requires periodic blood transfusions.
