Sodium cromoglycate in children with asthma

Two years of close follow-up of treatment with sodium cromoglycate of 124 children aged 5-13 yr for moderate or severe asthma is reported. Clear improvement was noted in 94.7% of the moderate cases and 56.9% of the severe cases. In the latter group there was a decrease in the effect of the drug with time, but not as much as that reported by other researchers. Cases of both allergic and nonallergic asthma benefited similarly from the treatment and there were no adverse side effects.
