The advantage of endoscopic decompression is that mortality rates for colonoscopic decompression were 1 percent to 5 percent compared with 12 percent to 20 percent for tube cecostomy. Surgical cecostomy is the definitive management for patients who fail above mentioned therapies without evidence of ischemia and perforation.
