Observations were made on the cornea, sclera and lens of rabbits under a scanning acoustic microscope. The specifications of the scanning acoustic microscope were given. The cornea, sclera and lens of rabbits were observed without being sectioned, stained or fixed with formalin. The corneal endothelium consisted of hexagonal cells 23-29 .mu.m in diameter; fibers of corneal stroma (2.3-5.8 .mu.m wide) were parallel to one another. The fibers interwave, near the corneal endothelium. Scleral fibers, which were interlaced with one another, were 4.1-5.2 .mu.m wide. Lens fibers were arranged in concentric circles with the lens nucleus at its center. The lens fibers was 5.2 .mu.m wide.
