Biphasic dark adaptation curve was analyzed as an initial step in the development of an automatic adaptometer. Computer simulation of least square fitting to exponential curve was performed to detect the tentative Kohlrausch's point. Smirnoff's rejection test (P < 0.1) was carried out to determine whether the farthest point from the applied curve would be rejected or not. Data which were within the bounds of possibility for cone-rod interaction were rejected and the true cone and rod dark adaptation function curves were detected. The cross point of these 2 exponential curves was regarded as a Kohlrausch's point and its time and threshold were calculated. All these findings including: initial and final thresholds; time constant of cone and rod dark adaptation function; and Kohlrausch's point were printed out. The observation values and the applied curves were plotted on a line printer.
