The diagnostic importance of conventional radiography including conventional tomography, scintigraphy and computer tomography (CT) was assessed in patients with coxarthrosis, coxarthritis and necrosis of the head of the femur. The so-called synovial study of scintigraphy was superior to conventional radiographic investigations in differentiating active from silent coxarthrosis. The combination of a general picture and computer tomography (CT) furnishes the most exact diagnostic information about the morphological state of the hip joint in coxarthrosis, coxarthritis and necrosis of the head of the femur.
