The qualitative and quantitative clinical symptomatology of celiac trunk compressional stenosis [CTCS] combined with gastric and duodenal ulcers was analyzed in 75 patients. Duodenal mucosa ulcers were revealed in 65 patients and gastric ulcers in 10. Eighteen patients also had constriction of the upper mesenteric artery without pathological changes of visceral arteries. The control group was composed of 31 patients with ulcers, but with no pathological changes in the visceral arteries. Most of the patients were examined during the late period of the disease. The collected anamnesis obtained data on the clinical picture of the disease. Pain was noted in all the patients irrespective of the stage of the ulcerative processes. The effectiveness of some widely used method of treatment was analyzed. Antacids and spasmolytics were 5 times as effective in patients with CTCS, but heat treatment and hot food was more effective in patients with CTCS. Weight loss due to decreased secretory activity of the stomach, duodenum and pancreas, lack of appetite, nausea, constipation, epigastralgia and other symptoms are discussed. The characteristics of the clinical manifestations allowed the differentiation of patients with CTCS and patients with ulcers.
