Benign mixed mesodermal tumor of the broad ligament

A rare (human) case of benign mixed mesodermal tumor of the broad ligament is presented. It contained mixed neoplastic epithelial and mesenchymal components including glandular structures which were similar to the mucinous gland of the cervix or the serous epithelium of the fallopian tube, thick-walled vessels, smooth muscles, adipose tissue and so on. All these components were well-differentiated. The tumor was apparently hamartomatous in nature and should be considered a benign conterpart of malignant mixed mesodermal tumor.
