The substitution of a supra-areolar incision for the usual inframammary approach in subcutaneous mastectomy improves the cosmetic results with few complications. Reconstruction with implantation of a prosthesis is delayed for 4-6 wk after mastectomy. The technique was used in 10 women with satisfactory results.
