Rubeola virus infection in early pregnancy presents a serious problem due to possible severe injuries of the fetus. The babies with congenital rubeola may survive although the severe mutilation of important organs puts them under permanent special care. The possibility of contact of pregnant women with children who may have actual rubeola infection puts the former under stress as the administration of .gamma.-globulin does not always eliminate the danger of infection. The necessity of giving prophylactic anti-rubeola vaccinations at least to all adolescent girls is stressed.
